Protective Services Investigator and Risk Management Senior Manager

Job Description:

This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and implementing solutions in respect to the protection and safeguarding of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s personnel, information, and property with a heavy emphasis on preventing workplace violence. Candidate must have a strong background in all major security domains to include physical security, risk assessment, investigations, travel security, threat management, executive protection, and protective intelligence.

The Protective Services Investigator must:

• Effectively work in a cross-functional capacity and across numerous collaborator groups.

• Identify gaps and risks in the Global Security program and create action/mitigation plans as the need arises.

• Handle risk assessment and mitigation of threats and acts of violence both in traditional and virtual environments in real time.

• Develop global security policies, standards, procedures, training, and awareness programs for a diverse and globally dispersed employee population.

• Assess current security site inspection program, develop updated policies and procedures, and help drive the support of the site inspection program. Including inspecting ThermoFisher locations, working with on-site teams, identifying security gaps, and tracking implementation of mitigating actions.

• Utilization of security case management system to supervise and maintain logs of all investigations, site inspections, and open action items.

• Support the training of ThermoFisher employees, and locations, regarding security procedures and protocols.

• Maintain and leverage currently applied technical tools to ensure persistent monitoring to identify and lead wireless threats.

• Investigate and review security violations, crises, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and coordinate appropriate mitigation strategies.

• Work in close liaison with the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), EHS, and other internal collaborators on crisis mitigation response.

• Liaison with external industry resources (e.g. law enforcement, military, emergency responders, industry peers & associations, etc.).

• Coordinate logistics for Executive Protection travel

• Develop travel security protocols and training for high-risk travel destinations

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in security, risk management, travel security, workplace violence management, event security, executive protection support is required

• Prior corporate security experience preferred

• Prior Law Enforcement experience preferred

• Must have good understanding of Duty of Care laws and concepts

• Vendor management experience strongly preferred

• Protective Intelligence investigative skills required

• Knowledge and certification in the areas of Threat Assessment methodology strongly preferred.

• Possession or ability to acquire LEOSA HR 218 authorization preferred

Education

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Information Systems, Security Management, or related field is strongly preferred

• Graduate of an accredited Law Enforcement Academy preferred
