Job Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for the position of Vice President, IT Applications Risk & Controls Manager within Information Technology Department under Asian Systems Office.

The successful candidate will be part of a growing dynamic regional team that is in charge of IT development and support functions. This role provides oversight to the IT Risk in the application domain and orchestrates the controls to be in place to manage risk across the APAC region.

Reporting to the HOD – IT Development & Support , you will work as an individual contributor influencing the application teams to maintain governance & enforce controls required to manage the risks in technology.

The candidate will need to understand the layers within the application technology stack and functional domain to take a risk based approach bearing in mind the end user experience.

You will work closely with the IT Risk Management department in technology, internal auditors and regulators in the region to pro-actively assess and mitigate risks inherent in the application domain.

The role requires the ability to manage the potential risks, develop contingency plans and ensure standards are consistently met. This requires influencing the application teams to ensure risk mitigating actions are delivered on time and within budget.

The scope of the role encompasses the following

  • Work closely with all the application leads and the delivery leads in APAC to take stock of the open issues and track them with an associated mitigation action and a due date.

  • Organize a regional risk portfolio in a backlog comprising of open risks, self-identified issue, audit findings and vulnerabilities to be addressed.

  • Rationalize the risks across APAC to streamline common items to be addressed in the most optimal manner

  • Prioritize risk based on the potential impact and probability engaging with the required stakeholders to formulate and track the actions.

  • Holds people accountable for the mitigating actions and oversee the completion as per the committed deadlines.

  • Monitor and oversee the application landscape regionally to raise open issues timely with the associated action plan.

  • Play the role of gatekeeper for any new technology or application adoption to assess risks and have a plan with the team to have them closed.

  • Provide visibility to management on the issues and the action plan.

  • Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies and IT risk team during incidents for any remediation required.

  • Maintain a close collaboration with the branches for alignment of the risks and the associated action plan.

  • Involved in incident to manage the risk related aspects that would require communication and co-ordination with IT risk, audit, compliance and regulators.

  • Maintain oversight and track all end-of-life items in the application domain to ensure the application teams have a plan for compliance.

  • Assess risks from new technology adoption to ensure they are aligned to be banks risk parameters and tolerance.

  • Backup for the Risk Manager in the infrastructure space to maintain overall governance in the regional technology team.

  • Ensure the staff are trained, briefed on the outcomes of incidents to look into the learnings from the incident so that improvements are adopted.

  • Work closely with the delivery leads and Testing CoE leads to ensure the quality assurance in delivery is comprehensive enough to mitigate the risk of an incident that involves any breach of regulations.

  • Create a framework for training on IT Risk as part of the on-boarding of new employees in the team.

  • Operates with limited supervision

Job Requirements:

  • At least 15 years’ experience in the banking technology domain as a risk manager

  • Experience working with IT application risk, audit & compliance, and financial regulators for remedial actions and closure

  • Experience working in a regional role having to oversee multiple countries with their own nuances of regulatory controls.

  • Has demonstrated excellent negotiation skills to maintain an objective view of risks and issues based on their impact and work with the IT risk, audit & compliance, regulators for remedial actions and closure

  • Good understanding of technology to appreciate the potential risks that the bank and our customers are subjected to

  • Good grip on the potential risks in regional applications and shared infrastructure that needs to comply with cross-border policies in relation to data segregation and exposure

  • Experience in overseeing the risk and controls including tracking them to closure through strong project management skills.

  • Familiarity in creating, implementing, and improving frameworks to identify and track issues to closure

  • Knowledge of the regulatory landscape in APAC would be an advantage

  • Has worked in an environment where one has experience driving outcomes by influencing the other teams.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate updates and progress to senior stakeholders and external parties

  • Self-motivated, self-organizing, detail-oriented and possess drive, ability to be hands-on and a good team player

  • Resilient and adaptive to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
