Google Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager, Ads in Singapore

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working on a global team with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Experience working with product managers and engineers.

  • Experience with and understanding of public policy issues relating to digital advertising personalization, including an digital advertising ecosystem and digital privacy issues.

  • Knowledge of internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.

  • Ability to communicate in English fluently and other languages prominent in APAC.

Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with governments and relevant third parties in the formation and execution of public policy that benefits innovation and tech progress.

As a member of our organization, you will help proactively educate policymakers and key opinion formers, advise internal teams on the political landscape, and work across Google to develop coherent, strategic plans to support Google’s public policy priorities. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

The Knowledge and Information team within Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy organization works directly with the Ads, Commerce, and Search product areas to advise on public policy issues including privacy, content moderation, mis/dis-information, innovation, transparency, competition and copyright. We are experts on Google’s product outlook and work closely with product and business teams to minimize risk and increase opportunity for success and growth. We work closely with Public Relations, Marketing, Trust and Safety, Legal, Partnerships, and other teams within GAPP to develop consistent public policy strategies and positions to share on Google’s behalf to relevant stakeholders. Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

  • Work closely with relevant Government Affairs and Public Policy and regional teams to track and advise your team and executives on relevant high-priority regulatory trends in Asia Pacific (APAC).

  • Manage ads-related external engagement, and work with Ads product teams on key product features and integrations to maximize impact with public policy, and mitigate potential risks.

  • Manage international, cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders, collaborating effectively to shape Google’s overall position on key policy topics (with a focus on privacy), and managing the creation of written and visual materials advocating these positions.

  • Collaborate on the creation and management of a network of key APAC stakeholders and influencer relationships to help shape a positive policy and regulatory environment and maintain an open Internet.

  • Engage directly with policymakers and key opinion formers to shape public and political dialogue.
