Utilities Inspector

Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Position Overview

Parsons is looking for talented Utilities Inspector to join our construction supervision job in Al Ain. In this role you will get to involve in monitoring, inspection, coordination, witnessing, documentation of all Civil and Utilities works of the infrastructure project to ensure the project is constructed as per Contract requirements and specifications. He should work closely with the Surveyors, Inspectors and Materials Engineer and reports to the RE throughout the project with specific duties to the work on the utilities related to MCC works

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications (MCC specification/AAQCC).

  • Coordinates work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing

  • Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations and writes daily diaries.

  • Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract.

  • Verifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work.

  • Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.

  • Recognizes potential conflicts, issues and problems, and reports to supervisor with proposed solution.

  • Collects, reviews and files Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used.

  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.

  • Participates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.

  • Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures.

  • Capability to perform math calculation to prepare engineering calculations, graphs, and chart.

  • Prepare Surveillance Report(s) for deficiencies of work found at site that are believed to have failed or if the contractor is not complying with verbal instructions and subsequently complete a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) if required in view of the development of events.

  • Provide technical input and experiences to resolve any discipline related issues on site that may arise.

  • Receive material inspection requests (MIR) from contractor, inspect electrical & instrumentation materials delivered at site and report on quantity and technical compliance and sign off requests.

  • Prepare/complete the necessary documentation prior to inspection of the Works and process accordingly following completion of the inspection.

  • Keep, monitor and follow up as necessary and maintain complete record(s) concerning the execution of the works.

  • Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.

  • Ensure site progress information is communicated regularly.

  • Perform all other duties that may be requested by team leadership

  • Coordinate the works to ensure successful hand-over of the project.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring :

  • BSc/BEng degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in infrastructure Project works of similar nature, magnitude, and supervision of roads works and utilities.

  • Experience should include trenching, cable installation, excavation, piling and pool box/camera poll installation.

  • Experience in dealing with emergency works and ability to deal with the Public and coordinate with various infrastructure Authorities related to the Projects.

  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment.

  • Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs.

  • Should have a driving license.​

  • Emphasis on Quality Assurance Specifications and Statistical Quality Control.

  • Must be fully computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc..

  • Must be available in UAE.
