Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintain and operate our critical infrastructure systems so that they are prepared to stand up against any situation.

AWS has the world’s largest cloud computing portfolio. As an Amazonian you will work in some of the most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers in the world. Our Engineering Operations Technicians I (EOT’s) help keep them that way by working with the brightest minds from around the globe to help test and implement the newest technology and work practices to meet the demands of a changing market.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities

· Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.

· Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.

· Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.

· Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA.

· Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.

· Able to work a 12 hour shift (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks).

· Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment.

· Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows.

Physical Requirements:

· Walk job sites in uneven terrain.

· Work at heights and from ladders.

· Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.

· Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.

· Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment

· Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance

· Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working

· Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired

· Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects

· Push or pull heavy objects into position

· Work in a noisy environment

· Work at depths, such as under raised floors

A day in the life

· Involved with projects of moderate complexity.

· Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).

· Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings and facility management.

· Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.

· Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.

· Monitor performance of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.

· Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.

· Assist with basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management creation, writing procedures and building management systems.

· Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations.

· Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring 99.999% uptime of the world's largest cloud computing portfolio.

· Role may support more than one location/site.

· Walk job sites in uneven terrain. Maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder

· Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently and participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds

· Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push and pull.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical, or 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience

  • High school or equivalent diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience
