SUMMARY:Responsible for supervising inland or air transportation dispatchers to ensure effective and timely implementation of the daily logistics operational goals. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: *Develop and maintain inland or air transportation procedures to maximize transportation service efficiency. Negotiate rates with inland and air carriers to obtain the most cost effective and efficient movement of shipments. Set up carriers that meet regulatory requirements. Ensure on-time delivery by courier companies and warehouses. Support simplification and standardization of processes to accelerate logistics and enhance efficiencies. Identify enhancement opportunities and suggest solutions for improvement. *EDUCATION:Associate's degree in business/related field or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. EXPERIENCE:2 years supervisory / management experience. Position in Booking, Customer Service, Traffic or Import/Export Documentation. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. COMPETENCIES:Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to perform accurately in a detailed oriented environment. Ability to gather, interpret, report, and use data and other information concerning assigned activities. Ability to function effectively with or as part of a team. Skill in preparing clear and concise documents, including, but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of import forwarding and customs brokerage in a domestic and/or international capacity. Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions. OTHER:Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be required. JOB SCOPE:Position impacts multiple business units/segments. WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
