Position Summary:

To set up and operate all types and sizes of milling machines following established machine shop machining methods and practices in an efficient manner with minimum assistance.

Essential Job Functions:

· Selects and mounts cutting tools and adjusts for proper cut. Selects and sets machine feeds and speeds, sets and adjusts machine attachments.

· Grinds own tool bits and simpler types of special purpose tools. Works from blueprints, sketches, and shop orders.

· Lays out part reference lines and points as a guide in machining operation, and fills out setup sheets as required.

· Performs miscellaneous related duties, such as housekeeping, on any shift as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications, competencies, abilities and any physical demands if required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

  1. Occasionally required to lift up to 30 lbs.

  2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.

  3. Safety glasses, shop coat/apron, proper shoes.

  4. Occasional exposure to shop element such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.

    Typical Materials, Tools and Equipment Used:

    Materials worked on: A wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous bar, tube or plate stock; billets; castings; forgings; and partially machined parts; other machineable materials.

    Materials worked with: Coolants and cutting oils.

    Tools used: Machinists, hand tools, precision measuring instruments and a variety of gages.

    Equipment used: All types and sizes of milling machines; milling fixtures and

    attachments.

    Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $33.36/hr.- $35.95/hr.
