Catalent Pharma Solutions Process Engineer in Manassas, Virginia

POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Engineer provides general consultation and recommendation around design, testing, and implementation of processes and methods to ensure production and revenue attainment. This individual partners with internal and external customer to develop and test standards to achieve max capacity in production goals. Comply with GMP, SQF, Food Safety, and Quality Standards. Understanding of lean processes; line balancing and problem-solving techniques.

Shift: 1st M-F 8AM-5PM

Location: Manassas, VA - this is a site based position

Manassas provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. The site has the capability to manufacture cold-processed soft chews for nutritional supplements and nutraceuticals, as well as small batch lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, ingredients, and colors available, we can work with complex formulations to help create engaging new products consumers will love.

The Role:

• Oversee and manage the scale-up and commercialization of soft chew and lozenge dietary supplement products.

• Provide technical support for the commissioning and qualification of new equipment; Troubleshoot new and existing processing problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.

• Analyze product formulations and product specifications to determine optimal physical characteristics of materials and product, critical processing parameters, and environmental and safety requirements.

• Establish standards and guidelines for machine specifications. Evaluate and determine where operational limitations occur and what configurations are needed to ensure enhanced success.

• Align with Sales on pricing as new items are introduced. Evaluate speed, limitations, capacity, and throughput to ensure profitability margins are met.

• Work closely with research and development, quality assurance, procurement, and external suppliers; Work with maintenance and operational staff to develop and implement procedures for machine operations, preventative maintenance and safety.

• Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to raw materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage; Drive trials on new products to ensure efficiency and cost quotes are met.

• Maximize run rates through proper evaluation of machine performance, settings, training, raw material components and finished good specifications; Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate product designs; Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that new products meet customer specifications.

• Participate in all necessary training is required to successfully perform job responsibilities.

• Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree technical field is required.

• Five (5)+ years’ experience in a confectionary manufacturing environment and five (5)+ years’ experience as an engineer.

• Knowledge of machinery operations and packaging equipment.

• Strong leadership skills, with an ability to build trust, provide direction, and execute with excellence; Strong analytical/problem solving/process improvement skills; Ability to prioritize and follow-through to achieve results and meet deadlines.

• Strong foundation in interpersonal communication concepts, specifically; written, oral, presentation, listening, and facilitation skills; Ability to facilitate change, foster innovation and results; Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and develop effective solutions.

• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, climb or balance and taste or smell.
