Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Electric Power Systems and Propulsion Group Manager to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing subsidiary, is seeking a Electric Power Systems and Propulsion Group Manager to contribute to the design and development of next generation electric and hybrid-electric power and propulsion systems for manned and unmanned aerial vehicles including efficient high performance vertical take-off and landing aircraft, high-altitude and long-endurance (HALE) UAVs, and megawatt-scale electrified propulsion aircraft.

The Group Manager position will be the functional lead for a team of 10 engineers with background in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, and Aerospace engineering involved in the design and development of advanced power distribution and electric propulsion systems. Lead responsibilities include:

-developing and disseminating standard practices of design, development, and validation within the discipline

-collaborating with the Electric Power and Energy group manager and Electronic Systems and Power Division Manager on the strategic roadmap for hiring, facilities, and technology development

-collaborating with the Project Managers and Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads to successfully support funded aircraft and subsystem projects.

-supporting and managing the group staff including all engineering overhead functions (e.g. performance reviews)

-providing expert advice and review as a non-advocate reviewer

-supporting integration and lessons learned across the Boeing enterprise

As part of a highly collaborative environment you will work independently and on a multi-disciplinary team. As such, candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills and the desire to take on new tasks and develop new skills.

Minimum Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or other relevant discipline.

-7 (+) years of relevant industry experience or fewer years with an advanced engineering degree.

Engineering background must include:

New product development through commercial introduction

High voltage power distribution and/or propulsion systems

-Must be a US Person.

Preferred Requirements

Advanced Engineering Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or a relevant discipline

Experience:

7 (+) years of relevant industry experience

-Professional experience leading the engineering efforts of design, analysis, and testing of high voltage power distribution and/or propulsion systems through to new product commercial introduction.

-Academic/professional experience with some or all of the following:

-Electrical system and propulsion development with several development cycles managing and implementing complex systems

-Leading a multidiscipline team in a rapid development environment

-Electric motors, electric motor controllers, power electronics, and high voltage electrical system design.

-System safety assessments, failure hazard analysis, and certification and test plans

-System architectures design and performance analysis

-System component requirement definition, design, and development.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $122,000.00 to $217,000.00

  • Maximum Range: $122,000.00 to $217,000.00
