Purpose

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and controlling the flow of production in a timely manner. This position supervises direct reports and is responsible for managing staff, including hiring, employee communications, training, discipline, evaluation, and termination responsibilities. This role the first line position in directing the hourly workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Supervisor staff including hiring, employee communications, training, discipline, evaluation and termination responsibilities

  • Assign, train and direct employees on jobs

  • Ensure the machine operators are properly trained and work in a safe and efficient manner

  • Ensure and assist with coordination of daily shop activities

  • Manage inventory levels

  • Responsible for all Time and Attendance functions

  • Responsible for scheduling: vacations, overtime, etc.

  • Communicate rules of conduct

  • Key position in the implementation of the JIT/Demand Flow Manufacturing Techniques

  • Manage QPS functions in the manufacturing area

  • Issue records and reports as required

  • Monitor and maintain safety procedures and conditions to prevent accidents and provide a safe workplace

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Previous leadership experience desired (preferably in business or manufacturing environment)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and machining/assembling processes

  • Knowledge of production/materials control system

  • Understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing concepts and production schedules

  • Demonstrated ability to meet operating targets (preferably in a manufacturing environment)

  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
