General Purpose:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the facility maintenance operation, including the people strategy, to meet company objectives for safety, quality, production, and budgetary parameters in a 24/7 operation. Participate in the overall strategic design and direction of the maintenance people, processes, systems, and related programs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the leadership of the plant strategies, all team members, and compliance in a regulated environment.
Support engineering team with plant capital projects, including scope development, bidding, submitting capital requests for internal review, coordination of project completion, and budget cost adherence
Direct and control plans and specifications for outside contracting work, including bidding process, priority, and corporate purchasing and Plant Manager approvals
Oversee maintenance part and supply inventories, including purchasing activities, supply shortages, and report generation
Develop and maintain effective preventative maintenance programs for facility, plant utility systems, architecture, process instrumentation, and all production machinery and equipment through assigned staff and outside contractors to support sustained plant operations and efficiency
Analyze and solve technical maintenance issues
Provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance Supervisor and team
Follow and verify adherence to DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements
Ensure safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
Ensure availability to respond to emergencies or other unexpected operational requirements (i.e. nights, weekends, or holidays)

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
BS Engineering or related discipline (educational requirement may be waived if the individual possesses the appropriate knowledge and experience in a production environment)
8-10 years of experience in maintenance leadership is preferred
Strong electrical and mechanical skills
Working knowledge of PLC, logic and computer control skills
Demonstrated ability to support large capital projects in a production environment
Prior experience working in a union environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess strong computer skills
Extensive background and a working knowledge of boilers, ammonia systems, air compressors, refrigeration systems, high and low voltage power systems, and utilities
A keen ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Excellent decision-making skills
Knowledge of the creation capital projects to resolve production or regulatory issues
Capable of working closely with associates in a union environment
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Travel:
