Meta Privacy Policy Manager, European region in Brussels, Belgium

Summary:

Meta seeks a highly motivated, well-organized, team player to join our growing policy team in the European region. The position will support the Privacy and Public Policy team's work on strategic engagement and outreach with privacy and data protection policy stakeholders. As the ideal candidate, you will have significant experience in privacy and data protection, with a strong grasp on European privacy legal and policy issues such as the GDPR, ePrivacy and the new EU digital laws. You should have excellent analytical skills and be a strong writer, with experience in developing materials for internal audiences as well as privacy regulators, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders. You would also have deep knowledge of and relationships with regulators, key advocacy groups, policymakers, academics, and researchers in the region. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional work environment and presenting to internal and external audiences. Required Skills:

Privacy Policy Manager, European region Responsibilities:

  1. Act as direct support to to the Director of Privacy Policy Engagement, EMEA in the engagement activities in the European region, working closely with a global advocacy team on data and privacy policy issues and managing a small team for this purpose

  2. Work with cross-functional teams to develop and articulate the company's positions on key privacy and data protection issues in the form of internal briefing documents , position papers, and related documents

  3. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders Represent Meta at meetings and conferences where appropriate

  4. Analyse legislative and regulatory proposals concerning privacy, data protection, data security and other related technology issues

  5. Assist in designing and executing high impact policy strategies and programmatic initiatives in the European region

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Significant experience working on data protection and privacy legal and policy issues in a privacy regulator, law firm, company, non-profit or similar organisation

  2. In depth knowledge of activities and criteria of the data protection authorities in the EU

  3. Inclusive people management experience

  4. Highly-organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills

  5. Experience navigating cross-functional teams and dynamics, prioritizing competing project timelines

  6. Ability to effectively communicate, via excellent written and verbal skills

  7. High degree of flexibility, with a willingness to work on a wide variety of legal and policy questions

  8. Strong knowledge of, and interest in technologies and devices

  9. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make sound judgments under tight deadlines

  10. Fluency in English

  11. Excellent academic credentials

  12. Willingness to travel
