As the Director of Logistics for North America, you are accountable for the operational performance for all Convatec’s outsourced warehouse operations supporting the fulfillment of Convatec’s customer orders in North America. This covers 3 operations, located in USA, Canada and Dominican Republic (this may change over time). You will lead a team of logistic professionals to manage the day-to-day tactical activities, balancing cost and delivering high service to ConvaTec’s customers.

In addition, you will be responsible for the assessment of the North America distribution network to ensure it is structured to support the rolling 5-year commercial plans. Ensuring that new distribution requirements are in place as ConvaTec introduces new products, introduces new or expands on existing customer channels and/or acquires new businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Owns the annual budget development and delivering to that annual budget for all North America warehouse operations.

• Manages all outsourced 3PL’s in North America to contracted KPI’s. Ensuring 3PL’s are performing to the service levels set by ConvaTec to deliver high service levels to Convatec’s customers and achieve On time in full (OTIF) targets.

• Manage KPI and service failures, seeking for process improvement opportunities to minimize reoccurrence of failures.

• Proactively seek for cost and service improvement opportunities within warehouse and final transportation activities. Lead Convatec’s North America distribution team and 3PL partners to have a robust and successful continuous improvement program. Emphasis on execution excellence to maximize the benefit for Convatec.

• Seek for continuous improvement in the area of IT and systems, to automate manual activities, and streamline interface activities between Convatec and its 3PL’s WMS.

• Direct the North America distribution analyst team, who are responsible for the inventory accuracy in Convatec’s SAP and aligned with the Convatec’s 3PL’s WMS.

• Ensure inventory KPI’s are in place to manage the accuracy of ConvaTec’s inventory.

• Work closely with the North America commercial leads to align on month, quarter and year end distribution activities.

• Strategically set the distribution network plan for North America. Ensuring the distribution network is in place to support the achievement of commercial’s rolling 5year plans.

• Build on Convatec’s business continuity plans in the scope of distribution.

• Meet with Convatec’s customers to obtain feedback on Convatec’s delivery performance on customer orders. Incorporate feedback and adjust/pivot the distribution service expectations accordingly.

• Operational lead for all Request for Proposal (RFP) activities in North America region, provide all business requirements, make recommendation on RFP awards, lead implementation activities of RFP decisions.

• Lead the implementation of Convatec’s US warehouse to an automated operation going live beginning quarter one in 2025.

Travel Requirements

Position may require some (<20%) travel (domestic and international) to warehouse operations in Europe. This travel will include day trips and overnight trips.

Working Conditions

At this time the position is remote/field based. With the expectation of onsite presence at Convatec’s Bridgewater NJ offices as business requires aligned with the employee.

Qualifications/Education

• BS/MS degree required, in the area of operations management, logistics, supply chain or general business /economic studies.

• At least 15-year previous experience in logistics, within the sectors of medical products, pharmaceuticals, food or FMCG company, ideally progressing in positions with increased responsibility.

Key Requirements

• Proven track record for meeting annual logistics budgets and at the same time managing a distribution operation with KPI’s being met/exceeded and delivering high service levels to customers.

• Proven track record of implementing a continuous improvement mindset within their own team and partnered 3PL’s, with year-on-year improvements implemented with cost savings achieved and/or service improvements.

• Experience in managing third party logistics contracts/relationships. In addition, experience in translating commercial business plans into distribution network strategies, implementing the necessary changes to adjust the distribution network to support commercial achievement.

• Broad grasp of leading best practices in distribution activities related to third party managed warehouses and final transportation to customers ships to.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams to objective achievement, through prioritization and resource focus, as well as translating broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans.

• Business case development and influencing senior stakeholders inside the organization and external suppliers.

• Makes critical decisions that supports company strategy and ultimately the service experience of customers.

• Demonstrated skills in implementing a continuous improvement program with warehouse and transportation suppliers.

• Excellent oral and written communications skills

• Ability to develop and mentor team members, so the team is continually enhancing their skills and experience.
